Marcus Jones is the Awards Editor, TV & Film at IndieWire, based in Los Angeles. Some of his duties include helping produce videos for the Awards Spotlight video series, and regularly writing Consider This features, including interviews with Lizzo and Michelle Yeoh prior to their historic Emmy and Oscar wins, respectively. He often moderates panels at IndieWire’s live events, and of course, writes and/or edits awards predictions for several Emmy and Oscar categories.

Born and raised near Washington, D.C., Marcus is a graduate of The Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU, with a concentration in entertainment business. He wrote for Vulture, The Cut, and BuzzFeed News before joining the team at Entertainment Weekly right as it transitioned into becoming a monthly magazine. There he not only wrote two cover stories, and several print and digital features, he also created and hosted the social video series Scene Stealers, and made appearances on podcasts like The Awardist, interviewing New Orleans musician Jon Batiste right before his 2022 Grammy win for Album of the Year.

Marcus is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Latino Entertainment Journalists Association. One of his primary focuses throughout his career in journalism has been tracking the progress of diversity and inclusion within awards bodies, and Hollywood as a whole. He likes to joke that off-duty, he will watch any film or TV show where someone has a drink thrown at them. Follow Marcus on Twitter @marcus_jones and on Instagram @MarcusJonesNY.
